The National Phenome Centre

Visual identity

Conveying a complex proposition with clarity and concision

Founded in 2012, the National Phenome Centre employs state-of-the-art drug testing equipment used in the London Olympics to develop metabolic profiling techniques for advancing academic and clinical research in personalised medicine, diagnostics and nutrition.

Keen to raise the profile of the Centre and expand its influence by communicating confidently with a diverse audience, our client tasked us with creating a new identity, introductory brochure, website and marketing materials.

We began by developing a clear brand narrative and core messaging to provide a conceptual foundation for the new identity and associated materials. Inspired by the double-helix structure of DNA and the idea of ‘passing the torch’ from the London Olympics to the National Phenome Centre, we created a crisp, dynamic logo and a vibrant colour palette that reflects the Centre’s pioneering spirit.

As the new logo evolved, we fleshed out the core narrative and messaging to create a 12-page brochure and a standalone website. The result is an identity and a suite of marketing materials that has helped the National Phenome Centre to become globally recognised as a leader in its field.
